Geographically, the Banten region wasclose to the West Java and Sumatra islands. Banten lies between the island of Sumatra, western Java and Jakarta. There is a famous volcano "Krakatoa" that last erupted in 1883 .
Banten residents has a strong religious roots with indigenous cultures that still exist in their lives. Banten community's main religion is Islam, which arrived in the region along with the spread of Islam in Sumatra and Sulawesi.

A total of 71 ODTW (34.8%) is a tourist area that has grown both nationally and internationally. Meanwhile about 100 ODTW (49.0%) is the Tourism potential to be developed. The pattern of tourism development in Banten Province covers 18 areas, including West Coast, South Coast Tourism Region, North Coast Area Tourism, Pilgrimage Tourism Regions, Tourism Areas Ujung Kulon National Park (TNUK) and Children's Island and Mount Krakatoa, and others.
